What is the meaning of St Patrick's Day?

Let's talk about St Patrick's Day, AKA. St Paddy's Day.

It's a day we associate with good luck, all things green and an exorbitant amount of Guinness.

Celebrated annually on March 17th, St Patrick's Day honours St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland.

Why is he significant?

In the 5th Century, St. Patrick introduced Christianity to Ireland using the three-leafed shamrock to explain the concept of the Holy Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit).

The shamrock became a national symbol of Ireland and a key emblem of St Patrick's Day.

Over time, March 17th has become a secular celebration of Irish heritage, identity, and traditions.

St Patrick's Day is celebrated across New Zealand with parades, live music, themed events, and, of course, a fair few pints of Guinness.

Whether you're of Irish heritage or not, who doesn't love a chance to dress up, hit the pub with your mates and belt out a few Irish bangers?
