Royals Christchurch

Royals is an exclusive-hire event venue in central Christchurch for corporate events, private parties, weddings and large celebrations. With a flexible indoor venue, open-air rooftop and a private bar, Royals can host meetings, conferences, team events, Christmas parties, milestone birthdays, engagement parties and wedding receptions.

Royals is a flexible, exclusive-hire function venue at 178 St Asaph Street in Christchurch Central City. Every booking gives guests private use of the entire venue, including the main indoor event space, open-air rooftop and bar.

Designed to work across both daytime and evening events, Royals can be configured for corporate functions, meetings and conferences, team offsites, long lunches, Christmas parties, private celebrations and weddings. The indoor venue and rooftop can be used together throughout an event or set up for different parts of the day, from presentations and seated dining to drinks, speeches, networking and dancing.

The venue can accommodate up to 350 guests standing, 110 guests for seated dining and 115 guests theatre-style. A range of furniture configurations are available though our hire partners, including long-table dining, round and mixed dining layouts, theatre seating and conference-style setups.

For seated events, Royals can be styled for long lunches, dinners and wedding receptions, with the option to transition the indoor space into a dance floor later in the event. The capacity planning also allows for round-table and mixed-table dining formats, depending on the style and number of guests.

For corporate events, Royals can accommodate presentations, meetings, workshops and conference-style events, with projector, microphone and sound-system facilities available. Catering can be arranged throughout the day, including morning and afternoon tea, lunch, platters, canapés and more substantial dining options.

The rooftop provides a separate open-air setting with its own bar and built-in booth seating, making it useful for arrival drinks, breaks, networking, informal sessions or post-event drinks. Guests can move between the rooftop and indoor venue throughout the event.

Private events can be tailored around the occasion, with space for decorations, florals, signage, cakes, speeches, DJs and dancing. External stylists, florists and event suppliers are welcome, allowing the venue to be transformed for birthdays, engagement parties, weddings and other celebrations.

Royals operates on a minimum-spend basis rather than a separate venue-hire fee, with all food and beverage purchased during the event contributing towards the agreed spend. Minimum spends vary depending on the date, time and season.
