Opened in December 2018, The Fat Lamb offers rustic, farmhouse cooking in one of Queenstown’s oldest buildings, Eureka House.



The Fat Lamb showcases New Zealand produce in a wholesome, tasty and generous way. Specialising in New Zealand lamb that is sustainably sourced; it's all about the local paddock, to the plate. “Good Food starts with great produce” says Chef Martin James. “We cook with the best our farmers and growers provide and believe that this is the only true way to cook.” The Fat Lamb showcases New Zealand produce in a wholesome, tasty and generous way – ‘the kiwi way’. The menu combines quality kiwi ingredients with an international influence of flavours to give you a great New Zealand food experience. At the The Fat Lamb we offer a domestic only wine and craft beer list which allows us to concentrate on sourcing special and unique products from smaller producers to showcase the diversity and regionality of our country. Join us at The Fat Lamb where we believe that the more you know the history and story of food – the better it tastes. We do not charge venue hire, minimum spend only, based on high and low seasons.
