Whirinaki Whare Taonga is an arts, culture, and events centre based in Upper Hutt. With an intimate theatre, a large hall, meeting rooms, foyer function spaces, and a changing suite of exhibitions - Whirinaki is a spectacular venue for a memorable daytime or evening event.

These impressive and flexible spaces are perfect for performances, corporate events, lectures and conferences, cocktail parties, weddings, seated dinners, intimate meetings, sporting events and public expos. Our prestigious 210-tiered style theatre can accommodate everything from theatre performances, dance and ballet showcases, live bands, classical concerts, and seminars to product launches. It's an intimate space with the latest audio, visual and traditional theatre lighting technology and a skilled team of in-house technicians. The Hall is a generous space available for dry hire. With a 990m2 sprung floor, 600-guest seating, easy load-in access, a servery/bar and a full commercial kitchen - The Hall is perfect for large-scale events such as community celebrations, weddings, conventions, dances, gala dinners, and expos. Several smaller breakout/support spaces are also available. At Whirinaki, you may use our on-site caterer, Dough Bakery or cater your own event.
