Wellington Airport sits about 8km from the central city, roughly a 15-minute drive without traffic. For weddings held in town, this makes same-day guest arrivals easy, but for Wairarapa venues like Tarureka Estate or Parehua Resort, factor in an additional hour or so on top of that airport transfer.

Late summer to early autumn (February–April) tends to offer the calmest weather, as Wellington is notoriously windy and can be unpredictable outside this window. Wairarapa venues are generally more sheltered than city or coastal Wellington sites, so couples set on a spring or winter date may find more reliable conditions inland.

Most Wairarapa venues are 45 to 75 minutes from Wellington CBD, which is too far for a comfortable round trip on the night. Couples typically either block-book accommodation in nearby towns like Greytown, Martinborough or Featherston, or use venues with on-site accommodation (such as Tarureka Estate's Homestead) to keep guests close by.

Yes. Public transport options are limited and taxis aren't always reliable in rural areas, so couples usually organise shuttles or buses for guests travelling from Wellington. This is worth planning early, especially for evening return trips after the reception.
